This year's HHH Endurance Ride (Wichita Falls, TX) featured a record number of entrants: 13067.  That is a lot of people to line up at the starting line with!

Velo Vixen rider Carol Haley took on the 95 degree heat on the mostly sun-exposed course to finish in 5th place for her age group, and was across the line as number 369 overall!!!

Velo Vixens Charlene Simmons and Carol Haley - a late entry to the event - competed and tied for 3rd in the women's solo division of the 2010 YMCA Strong Adventure Race on Aug. 14th.  Carol came to keep her teammate company after fellow Vixen Lynn Seeger had an unfortunate injury earlier in the week.

The two ladies ran, paddled, pedaled and more while finding their route through the woods and waterways of Camp Ocoee in TN.  Cheers to them for their efforts and for the teamwork shown by Carol for stepping in on short notice!

We also wish Lynn a continued speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the bike soon!

It's not all cycling for glory with the Vixens...we take time to volunteer at a variety of events as well.  Case in point - the 2010 Greenway Farms 5 Mile Trail race.

Dreama Campbell, Sarah White-Woerner, and Wendy Oates

Dreama, Sarah and Wendy all came out bright and early to help set up the flags for the runners in the Greenway Farms 5 Mile Trail race on Aug. 7th.  They stayed to cheer on the finishers as they crossed the line, and then they went on to ride their bikes!

The State Time Trial Championships for 2010 were held in Rutledge, TN on July 31st.  After weeks of temps in the high 90's, we were thrilled to have a cool morning to ride in, then were stunned to see the temps actually drop into the 60's with a rain front that moved through while we raced.

We were thankful to have our tent to protect us after the race while we waited for the results and refueled after a great ride!

Our team pulled together a stellar performance at the Smith & Nephew Omnium June 27 & 28.

We had 8 Velo Vixens racing their bikes in the Memphis heat that weekend. Everyone put their best effort out there and had a great time.

The road race was so hot, everyone of us suffered heat stroke to a small degree. We were super thankful for Randy Lawson and his motorhome. He was equipped with air conditioning and a bathroom. (there were no port-o-lets) NONE! Thank you Randy!!!

"Is that a Vixen?" Cat yelled to me across the water, pointing to a swimmer.  "Oh!  Yes!" I excitedly grabbed my camera.

Racing With Our Hearts

The Velo Vixens have been racing through the season.June started off with a bang at the People’s Community Bank Criterium where Jenny Delong and I won podium spots together, 2nd & 3rd for the cat 4 women’s race. It was a challenging course with several zig-zagging turns. This being the Tennessee State Criterium Championship, the women’s field consisted of over 30 of the fastest, leanest & meanest ladies in the state. Jenny fought hard the whole race to bridge the gap after getting blocked out at the beginning of the race. It was a celebrated moment to finish with the lead group with my teammate by my side.

The following weekend, Vixens Sally Chu, Crystal Galloway and Christy Brown raced the Georgia Cup Criterium in Rome.
